It must be emphasized that this work is not a historical artifact. Inspired by the original mosaic, it is a modern artistic creation crafted with masterful workmanship. In this respect, it should be regarded as a unique piece of art that brings an ancient scene into the present day.

This mosaic was created by the artist Ali Zeren. Its inspiration is the famous Orpheus Mosaic, discovered in the ancient city of Edessa (present-day Şanlıurfa) and dated to 194 AD. As in the original, it portrays Orpheus playing the lyre, enchanting the wild animals gathered around him.

While preserving the composition of the ancient work, Ali Zeren’s mosaic reflects the technical precision and artistic sensibility of the modern era. The vividness of the colors, the clarity of the figures, and the craftsmanship of the tesserae elevate the piece beyond mere replication, transforming it into a contemporary artistic reinterpretation.

This artwork offers viewers the chance to experience an ancient story through the lens of modern aesthetics, thus carrying both the memory of the past and the spirit of contemporary art.

Önemle vurgulamak gerekir ki bu çalışma, tarihi eser değildir. Orijinal mozaikten ilham alınarak, modern dönemde usta işçilikle yapılmış bir sanatsal eserdir. Bu yönüyle, antik bir sahneyi günümüze taşıyan özgün bir sanat üretimi olarak değerlendirilebilir.

Bu mozaik, sanatçı Ali Zeren tarafından üretilmiştir. İlham kaynağı, Şanlıurfa’daki Edessa Antik Kenti’nde ortaya çıkarılan ve MS 194 yılına tarihlenen ünlü Orpheus Mozaiği’dir. Orijinal eserde olduğu gibi, lir çalan Orpheus’un büyüleyici müziğiyle etrafında toplanan çeşitli hayvanlar betimlenmiştir.

Ali Zeren’in çalışması, orijinal kompozisyonu korurken, işçilik ve teknik açıdan modern dönemin imkanlarını yansıtmaktadır. Renklerin canlılığı, figürlerin netliği ve taş işçiliğinin ustalığı, bu mozaği yalnızca bir kopya olmaktan çıkarıp çağdaş bir sanatsal yeniden yorum haline getirmektedir.
